Chesterfield has entered into a shared services with Bordentown Township Animal Control to meet the needs of our community, as well as our neighboring communities. Animal Control is available to respond to animal related issues 24/7. Their responsibility is to handle issues related to domesticated dogs and cats. LICENSE AND RABIES CLINIC INFORMATION
Please be advised that a dog/cat license cannot be issued if the rabies vaccination expires prior to November 1, 2025.
A FREE RABIES CLINIC will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at Mansfield Township Municipal Complex, 3135 Route 206 South, Columbus, NJ from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Licenses will not be issued during the clinic. The fee for a dog/cat license is $20.00 (Spayed/Neutered) & $23.00 (Non Spayed/Non Neutered). The fee for a cat license is $20. Failure to renew by 3/31/25 will result in a $25 per month per dog/cat late fee.
TOWNSHIP ORDINANCE STATES: No person who owns or shall have the custody of any dog shall permit the same to run at large in any public street or in any public place or upon property other than that of its owner.
All dogs in the recreation areas throughout the Township are required to be leashed. Failure to leash your dog and / or clean up after your dog will subject you to the penalties prescribed by Township Ordinance.
